Gesar Ling School

A charitable social project of the Dharma-Tor Sangha under the guidance of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche

The “Tibetan Kham Lingtsang Society“ is a community of Tibetan refugees, who got permission by the Indian government to settle in this remote area of the District Dehra Dun. These refugees are from the Lingtsang area in Kham around the Rigul monastery of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. The Tibetans of this settlement live from their products of handicraft, which they produce in hard work. Also they have built up a Buddhist monastery there.

The School Project: Children need education…

The “Ling Gesar School“ was set up to make education possible for the Tibetan children and for children of the poor Indian villages in the environment.

Venerable Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, the President of the spiritual guidance in the Dharma-Tor Center Bodhicharya Huttenried and founder member of our charitable trust, is also a member of this Lingtsang Society. Rinpoche considers with his whole heart the support of this school project with preservation and further development of the school. It is the only possibility for education of the Tibetan and Indian children in this region.

This school was set up twenty years ago. Before we started with support by means of our charity in autumn 2003 the school was near to closture due to financial misery. The existence of the school with preservation of the building and the ground, salary for teachers, availability of study material and such things is totally dependent on donations. It is a project on the initiative of the Tibetan refugees only and is not supported by the Indian government.

In need of support the number of teachers and children had to be kept low, till the misery became so immense that the school was near to be closed. – What a tragedy in an area without any other possibility for education of children! –

Now it is one of our tasks respectively of our charity’s tasks to secure the survive of this school, and to make possible step by step a further development including medical check-up for health of the children…

The Health Project: People need a doctor…

For medical treatment in this colony only a nurse was responsible over long time. She did her best she was able to do with her small dispensary. But without a doctor heavy illnesses often could not be diagnosed in right way or too late. Also necessary treatment was not possible.

Now we sponsor a doctor to go out to the colony twice the month for one day for free treatment of people, especially children and old people who have no money to pay. Also the poor Indian people of the villages around can go to see the doctor and get free medicine.

The nurse and the doctor still work under problematic circumstances in a very small health station and with insufficient medical tools.

Donations

The sponsorship and support of this project is very important for us in the Bodhicharya Huttenried Dharma-Tor Sangha, not to think only on the furtherance and development of our meditation centre… but to share with those who need help so much…

We are dependent on donations, which we transfer directly to the Lingtsang Society.

To keep running the school and health project, we need at least 6.000 € every year.

If you wish and are able to help us to support this project, you are very welcome. Every amount small or large non-recurring or regular is very much appreciated. You help to give the most important in this world: Health and education, and so create the conditions for a good, fulfilled and peaceful life…

Donations for this purpose are accepted as benevolent contributions by the revenue office.
