Ashin Kunsal Kassapa
He was born as Joan Martinez Montsant in Granollers near Barcelona in Spain in 1968. Since early age he had a natural inclination towards healing. Among his teachers are the Tibetan Masters Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, H.E. Tai Situpa Rinpoche, (who calls him in a friendly manner the Burmese Lama), H.H. XVII
Gyalwa Karmapa and the well known Burmese Masters Dr. Rewata Dhamma and Sanathar Sayadaw.
He is one of the main coordinators of Aungtawmu Monastery together with Thaungtha Sayadaw and Dr. Sein
Yi. He speaks fluently Spanish, English and Burmese and built and reconstructed several monasteries and participated in the completion of thirty Stupas.
In the past few years when out of retreat, he has been working with Westerners in Myanmar, Thailand and India, helping them to establish Dharma Centers. He is also the author of two books and has been tirelessly promoting humanitarian projects and interfaith dialogs.
The Great Yogi Milarepa (1040-1123) has said in one of his Dhamma songs;
A great Yogi meditates in the rocks and
A patron provides substances for his/her livelihood.
Have the interdependence of attaining Buddhahood together
The essence of such interdependence is dedication.
